HOW MANY HOURS OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY DO I NEED?

As a wedding photographer, I often get asked, "How many hours of wedding photography do I need?" The answer depends on a few things. How many locations will you have? How many guests are you expecting? Do you want a first look? Which moments are most important to you?

Here are some general tips to help you figure out how much coverage you'll need. If you don't like the idea of being limited by a timeline on your wedding day, I totally understand! In my wedding photography packages, I offer 12h coverage. I believe in capturing the entire day from start to finnish.

Now, let's talk about how to determine the number of hours you need for your wedding photography.

First, consider the size of your wedding. If you're having a big wedding with lots of people, tables, and decorations, it will take more time to capture everything. You might want to consider booking more coverage to make sure we don't miss any important moments.

Next, consider the number of locations and activities scheduled throughout your wedding day. If you're planning to have the ceremony and reception at different venues, the photographer will need to cover both events, which will require additional time. It's essential to account for potential travel delays between locations. Even if the venues are just a short 5-minute drive apart, moving a large group of people from one place to another can take much longer than anticipated. It's worth considering doubling or even tripling the estimated travel time. Additionally, if you have any pre-ceremony or post-reception activities planned, you might need the photographer to arrive earlier or stay later.

Thirdly, take into account the time of day when your ceremony and reception will take place. If you've chosen a sunset ceremony or a late evening reception, you may want to consider extending the coverage to capture the enchanting natural lighting of the day.

Lastly, don't forget to consider any specific requests or special moments you'd like to capture. If you want photos of the bridal party getting ready or have certain must-have shots during the reception, it's important to account for that in your coverage time. As a general guideline, 8-10 hours of coverage is usually sufficient for most weddings. However, if you're having a larger wedding or have specific requests, it may be wise to opt for additional coverage.

Remember, every wedding is unique, and it's crucial to communicate your specific needs with your photographer to ensure that no important moment goes undocumented.
